Brasilia Attractions: What to See?

Catedral Metropolitana
Catedral Metropolitana is one of the outstanding buildings designed by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer in the 1960s for the Brazilian capital, Brasilia. The cathedral has sixteen curved columns and a stained glass interior. Standing near the entrance are four large statues known as the Four Evangelists. In his architecture, Niemeyer combined modernist techniques and materials with curving lines and free use of form reminiscent of the Brazilian baroque period.

TV Tower
It is the best view in town. Just take the elevator up to the 72m (240-ft.) high lookout, and there is Brasilia laid out at your feet. It is really a good starting point to start a tour to the city. You can see all important landmarks from there. Actually, it is one of the few places in Brasilia which have a good view. Also, a good place for souveniere shopping.

Look at the Flag on the Three Powers Square
This is the largest flag in the world that constantly flies. Its size is 70m by 100m. I have been told that because the flag is too big, it tears appart quite fast, so it has to be replaced with a new one approximately every month. Each month a different Brazilian State is responsible for the costs of the new flag. Here is a brief description of the Brasilian flag: The meaning of the Brasilian flag colours: Green - represents the forests; Yellow - represents gold and the richness of the country; Blue - the sky; White - peace among people. There are 27 stars representing each Brazilian state and one Federal District - Brazilia - the capital of Brazil. The words Ordem e Progresso mean Order and Progress.

Sanctuario Don Bosco
One special buiding C. A. Narbes some travellers might miss - since it is not located in the monument area. Very special atmosphere - all blue. Further informations coming soon!

The Brasilian Architect Oscar
The concept of Brasilia has been a surprising masterpiece, by an artistic point of view. The first obstacle to overtake was to transform the excessively dry climate of the plateau into something bearable by human beings (although everybody claims the dry and hot air remains very unpleasant): a lake has been filled, by building a dam. The arch described by the waters is also the basis for designing the arch, whose arrow is defined by the main avenue (paralleled by the Minitsries and the rest of the most important Public Buildings), and the Presidential Palace (Palacio do Planalto) is the terminating point, accompanied by an enormous Brasilian flag.

Square of the Three Powers (Praca Dos Tres Poderes)
To visit the city in the Carnival period and to watch to so called “the biggest show in the planet”, the parade of the samba schools in the “Sambódromo”. It’s a spectacle with colors, music and unforgettable and involving rhythm.
