East Norway
East Norway has a lot to offer the visitor. From the deepest
of forests where wolves live, to a Michelin rated restaurant
in Oslo. From skiing in tall mountains, to visiting the Viking
museum and sailing along the rocky coast. From a thousand
year old farms in the valleys, to a steaming night life in
the cities. East Norway is old and modern at the same time.
East-Norway is made up of seven counties: Oslo,
Akershus, Østfold, Vestfold, Buskerud, Telemark, Hedmark
and Oppland. Oslo, the nation's capital, is the heart
of the region. This is the most populated region of the country
and has a huge variety of cultural and outdoor activities
to offer.
The capital of Oslo is often called
the outdoor capital of Europe because of its enormous
non-inhabited forests, and its location at the end of a 100
kilometer long fjord.

Fjord Norway
Whatever the season you visit, Fjord Norway tempts
you to slow your tempo, explore at your own pace – and to
feast with your senses. Each fjord has its own characteristics
and attractions. Geirangerfjorden has the tallest and most
scenic waterfalls. Sognefjorden is the world's longest fjord
and Hardangerfjorden is mostly known for its surrounding,
exquisite flowering of fruit orchards in spring time. Lysefjorden
is known for its Pulpit Rock, where tourists can take in a
spectacular view and the most daring of us venture out to
the edge.
The cities of the west coast were founded on the wealth of
the sea. Kristiansund had clipfish. Ålesund was the
herring town, plus being known for its Jugend (Art Nouveau)
architecture. Molde is the city of roses and of jazz. Te cosy
and charming Hanseatic city of Bergen is a perfect place to
start when exploring the fjords. In 2000, Bergen
was designated one of the European Cities of Culture.
Bergen has a lot to offer before you leave for the fjords,
especially The Wharf, The Fish Market and Mount Fløien
are worth a visit. Bergen is also the starting point for the
Norwegian Coastal Express.
